Been a a long time gone, Constantinople

Shiima has been teaching me a little Turkish. Guzel is one of the words she taught me. She explained as a word that is used to say that something is any form of good or beautiful or anything positive really. I take it to be sort of like the Turkish word for bella in Italian. So despite not having problems with a place to live, a phone, and a job, everything is guzel :)
i finally tried some Turkish food. A doner sandwich. Doner means rotating and is was a sandwich with meat that is rotated on an upright spit and some peppers and french fries (?) and some sort of sauce. It was really good, but a little spicy. These stands are everywhere and next time I want to try it on a pita! I found a street yesterday off of Istiklal where there are a ton of fish vendors. A few were selling calamari also out of huge frying pans. I'd like to try that also. Shiima also told me about a fruit market on Sundays that she says is her favorite place. I love markets, so I can't wait to go there.
Last night I went out with Shiima and Sedat (the Turkish man who runs the hostel) again. Two guys staying at the hostel came with us as well, an Australian and a Canadian. They took us to Araf. It is a bar on the 6th flloor of a building near Istklal. It is known for their Balkan music, so there was a live band. They were awesome. It was so exciting. There were so many people dancing and singing the Turkish songs. The only song I knew was Istanbul not Constantinople!  Favorite place so far! We stayed there for awhile and then went back to the hostel. I talked to the Canadian for a long time back at the hostel. He told me all about his travels. He is an illustrator, but travels a lot. Just before turkey, he was in Syria and he told me about the three days he spent near Aleppo drawing people and the city. Naturally I was intrigued. I thought it was impossible to get into Syria, but somehow he managed to do so.
Today I think I am going to the Spice market and grand Bazaar! Pictures and stories to come soon!
Gurusuruz! (See you)
