A little sightseeing

Jet lag got the best of me last night, but despite my sleep deprivation, I decided to walk around a little anyways.   I had originally planned to just walk down Istiklal until I met with someone about an apartment, but it turned into a few hours of sightseeing, which of course I am not against... I walked the nearly the entire length of Istiklal, which is pretty long, saw the Galata Tower, and then crossed to the Golden Horn to check that out. Weather.com says it is about 70 out, but it sure does not feel like it. It was blazing hot and I was wearing jeans.  The Galata bridge was the most interesting. It is lined with fishermen casting their lines into the Bosphorus. Each line had multiple hooks, so sometimes they would haul out five or six fish on one line They are tiny fish though. The area just on the side of the Golden Horn was packed with people and there are a lot of places to buy fish. I crossed under the street to see what I thought was the Hagia Sophia...pshh stupid. No where near the size of the Hagia Sophia. It was the New Mosque actually. It was really pretty and had gorgeous blue tiling on the walls. I walked back to my hostel along the water and got some really pretty pictures of Asia. I was able to hold out for quite a while, but I'm exhausted, so I think I will take a short nap and then find something to eat. I'm still living on my reserves from the plane rides (packs of almonds and hazelnuts, and cookie crumbs from mom).
